Testing

Matthew 4:7
"You must not test the Lord your God."

I sometimes wonder if we sin, and then ask his forgiveness, not out of a desire to sin, but a desire to make sure He is still there and still loves us. It is the mark of an unmature christian, but i think some of us work this way. We get unsure about God's claims and so feel we have to put them to the test. And so we sin. Then ask for forgiveness, and when hellfire and brimstone doesnt rain down on us, we feel OK again. Now sure that Jesus forgave us yet one more time, that He still loves us.

But thankfully, as we grow in our faith. We learn we dont need to test him. We find His every word and claim is true. His love truly is infinite, everlasting, eternal, unfathomable, and limitless. He forgave us of all our sins on the cross. He saw every sin we are going to ever commit and died for us anyways.
